I have an image in mind and am starting to make some new wire puppets. I am not good at doing things the “right” way – which is to draw the character design first. This process sometimes stunts my exploration and I seem to do better by playing with stuff, instead of Pencil & Paper. But at some point – I do have to draw something out so that I can measure the wire, plan construction, etc. *PS. for those who don’t know me, I am – strictly an amateur. Do not follow my process as “The Proper Way” or you’ll end up in trouble 🙂
Well … this time I mean Art Challenges. Instead of doing Inktober this year I am doing an Instagram challenge called “Stopmoctober” organised by Laura Biale. Here is a short animation that I made for the prompt “Piece of Art”.
And here’s the list of prompts. We get weekends off!
The horse is coming along though not quite finished. The hooves are a problem – how to make them.
I have struggled between making a horse that is unbearably cute and one which looks like a zombie. The result is probably a cute zombie.
Cissie doesn’t seem to mind. She has fallen in love she tells me.
Boots – finally.
She seems happy with them.
Painted her face: eyes and very pale pink on mouth and I pencilled some eyebrows.
I tried other faces but this is the only one she is prepared to wear at the moment. She obviously likes to keep her cards close to her chest when it comes to facial expression.
