Finding a challenge

I work best with some kind of challenge. (I have been drifting – perhaps stuck!) There are lots of challenges on Instagram and I felt the pull of a Pippi Longstocking theme for the first week of August. I will try to animate one of the daily prompts but for now I will just see how I get along.

So here’s my idea for Pippi. And there has to be a monkey, Mr Nilsson, and a horse. Oh dear ……

Moving On

I have an image in mind and am starting to make some new wire puppets. I am not good at doing things the “right” way – which is to draw the character design first. This process sometimes stunts my exploration and I seem to do better by playing with stuff, instead of Pencil & Paper. But at some point – I do have to draw something out so that I can measure the wire, plan construction, etc. *PS. for those who don’t know me, I am – strictly an amateur. Do not follow my process as “The Proper Way” or you’ll end up in trouble 🙂

Cissie and Dragonframe

Looking for animation software. This is a free trial test of Dragonframe – hence the watermark. The free trial only allows 50 frames per clip… so I’ve looped it in order for it to last more than a blink of an eye because Vimeo is not happy with blinks of an eye as uploads.

This is a trial run for Cissie herself of course. How is she doing?

PS. I’m going with Dragonframe as my software.

Puppets: Horse Part 2

The horse is coming along though not quite finished. The hooves are a problem – how to make them.

I have struggled between making a horse that is unbearably cute and one which looks like a zombie. The result is probably a cute zombie.

Cissie doesn’t seem to mind. She has fallen in love she tells me.
