It's never too late to learn to animate
This was the second film in the “Fool” story, based on the Instagram Folktaleweek 2022 challenge using the prompt “Tree”.
“The Fool would leave the Cruel King’s court at dawn and he would always return to the Tree, the last in the King’s realm. Sometimes the Bird would come to greet him.”

I like doing Instagram challenges. It stretches me. Making me try new things technically and invent plots and characters. Though the challenges that I take part in are usually childrens book illustration challenges, nobody seems to mind.
An Instagram challenge that takes place around November each year is the Folktale Week challenge . It is a series of seven prompt words, one for each day of the challenge week, intended to conjure up folktale related images. I try to stitch them together into a story.
Last November the first prompt was Fool.
This animation uses puppets that I had thought would be Faeries for a Midsummer’s Night animation. That didn’t happen and they became critters like everybody else. Also … never estimate the value of a cork.
