“This one’s called Handstand … because I used to enjoy doing handstands. Couldn’t cartwheel though.”
“So this gif is based on a lino cut I made years ago. It’s one of a series. Childhood stuff. It’s called Paper Doll.” Blimey.
What on earth is a GIF then? “It’s a kind of moving image … a short, looping animation. Very short. And these days … more likely a video clip.”
I really don’t know what you’re talking about, dear. “Neither do I most of the time. And probably not now.” Oh you’d better just get on and show me one of your gifts then. “GIFs, Mum.”
Is that your cartoon? “Yes, Mum.” About time too … Is anybody going to watch it, though?
All Change from Mrs D on Vimeo…. In which I explain to my dead mother that I am switching from stop-motion models to drawn animation and she explains that I must have a cat in a cartoon. Or visuals to that effect…

I realised that my encounters with Syb make their own animation. So I decided to put them through my animation software, agonise over them, edit them and turn them into a trailer. Or rather … a reprise, a recap. I don’t know really ……… a film. That’s it. Just call it a very short film.
